10-year jail for 2 Indians in Dubai

Dubai, Jan 14: Two Indians who tried to sell two women to a man working for the police have been sentenced to 10 years in prison, a court ruled here.

Dubai Court sentenced a 34-year-old Indian, indentified as S F, and his 36-year-old compatriot, F T, to 10 years in jail. They would be deported after serving their terms. The two men faced charges of human trafficking, locking up girls in a room while S F was also charged with running a brothel for three months, news reports said. According to police records, the two had locked up the victims in a room in Al Hamriya.

The two suspects had planned to sell the victims, a 29-year-old Indonesian woman and a 23-year-old Bangladeshi woman for trying to sell two women for 9,000 dirham for prostitution.

The two victims, who were working as housemaids with different families, had escaped from their sponsors and the two suspects forced them to work as prostitutes and assaulted them when they refused the offer.
