Guwahati, Jan 13 (UNI) The ULFA today exploded another bomb here injuring at least seven people seriously.
The first bomb went off early today while the second bomb blasted right in front of the Paltanbazar police station at around 1930 hrs injuring seven, official sources said.
The area is a transport hub. Hundreds of people were waiting for vehicles while thousands were leaving Guwahati for home to participate in Magh Bihu festival starting from tonight when the bomb exploded.
The police suspected that a hand grenade was thrown as the blast did not cause any crater but injured the bystanders. Police confirmed the hand of ULFA which was also responsible for a low intensity blast in Rajib Nagar area under Dispur police station in here early today.
Additional Superintendent of Police Debojit Deori said the first blast took place at about 0245 hrs, though it was reported to the police only at 0830 hrs.
The blast took place on a foot track and no major damage was reported, except for a few holes on the tin roof of the nearby house.
The Addl SP said an improvised explosive device was used but the nature of explosives used could be ascertained only after forensic testing.
The police only yesterday had busted ULFA network in Nalbari.
