Rs 30 lakh seized, one held
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 13 (UNI) Officials of the Income Tax Revenue and CISF Intelligence Cell today seized cash to the tune of Rs 30 lakhs from a passenger who arrived at the airport here from New Delhi in a private airliner.
According to the officals, the passenger was identified as Gulbinder Singh, a native of Amritsar in Punjab.
Acting on a tip off, the passenger was arrested and the cash was found concealed in the luggage.
Though the person told the officals he had valid documents for the money, on verification they were found to be fake, the sources said.
On interrogation, he revealed the amount was meant for purchase of land at Kovalam in the district.
