Low intensity blast in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jan 13: A low intensity blast was reported in Rajib Nagar area under Dispur police station in Assam's capital city today. Additional Superintendent of Police Debojit Deori said the blast took place at about 0245 hours, though it was reported to the police only at 0830 hours.

''The site, where the blast occurred is a very remote area and hence the delay in the information,'' he added. The blast took place in a foot track and no major damage was reported, except for a few holes on the tin roof of the nearby house. The Additional SP said an improvised explosive device was used but the nature of explosives used could be ascertained only after forensic testing.

The motive of the blast can be known only after investigation, Mr Deori added.
