Two factories gutted in North 24 Parganas
Barrackpore, Jan 12 (UNI) At least two factories were gutted late last night at Birati under Nimta police station in North 24 Parganas, Fire Brigade sources said here today.
The blaze erupted either in a chemical factory or an adjacent bag factory late last night while nine fire tenders battled for about four hours to bring fire under control.
A Fire Brigade official said both the factories contained huge quantity of combustible and inflammable articles, including chemicals, plastics, jute and silk, besides computers and other machines.
The exact cause of the fire and extent of the losses was yet to be ascertained, the sources said, adding that no casualties were reported, though a fire officer sustained minor injuries.
