Snowfall abated in tribal areas, traffic restored
Shimla, 11 Jan (UNI) After remaining under heavy snowfall for more then a week, tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh have got some relief, as there was no report of more snowfall despite heavy overcast conditions still prevailing.
Taking advantage of the ceased snowfall, the administration has swung into the action and power and water supply is streamlined in Recong Peo, headquarter for the Kinnaur district.
Further, electric and water supply is expected to be restored in few other adjoining areas, the official said.
Initially, vehicular traffic on NH-22 has been resumed uptil Recong Peo.
On the other hand, disturbed telecommunication, electricity and water supply has not been restored in Sangla valley in Kinnaur district for five days.
Famous tourist destination of Rohtang pass in the Lahaul has been witnessing light snowfall, reports said.
Earlier, due to fears of avalanches under heavy snowfall, Pangi administration had sounded high alert but now the snowfall has abated. However, heavy land slide on main approach lead has left the Pangi and Bharmour cut off from rest of state.
In the Kullu, clear sky in the night caused harsh cold and left the water taps frozen, but by the afternoon temperature improved with heavy overcast sky.
Meanwhile, the state capital Shimla and lower parts of the state experienced sunshine.
Traffic on roads leading to Rohroo, Chaupal and Rampur was restored and few more buses were sent off after the reports of safe arrival of vehicles earlier sent.
