Seminar on ancient Tamil musical systems from Jan 24

Tiruchirapalli, Jan 12: A two-day international seminar on 'The musical systems of ancient Tamils and the world' will be held here from January 24.

Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts Principal Sister Margaret Bastion told newspersons here yesterday that the event, jointly organised by the Centre for Excellence for Classical Tamil, Mysore and the College, would instill in us an urge to do researches for the revival of the ancient Tamil musical systems.

She said the seminar would bring to light the parallels in the worls music and the musicl instruments of other countries. About 100 delegates were expected to attend the seminar, to be inaugurated by clarinet maestro A K C Natarajan, she added.
