Robbery gang held in Puducherry

Puducherry, Jan 12: Police arrested a five-member gang on the charge of robbing a merchant and his friend of valuables and motorcycle at Villainur near here.

According to police, Shaul Hameed, was returning to his native village Nallathur, along with Kandan, after closing his shop in Puducherry town last night, when the gang followed in a car and hit them.

They were robbed of their gold chains, mobile phones, cash and the motorcycle. The gang, arrested by the Tamil Nadu police in Villupuram district, after an alert message was flashed, was handed over to the Puducherry police.
