Vilas Waskar of Tararani Front elected KMC deputy mayor
Kolhapur, Jan 11 (UNI) Vilas Waskar candidate of the Tararani Front was today elected as deputy mayor in the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC).
Mr Waskar defeated Jansurajya Party candidate Dattatraya Ingawale by a vote.
Mr Waskar polled 37 votes and Mr Ingawale 36 in the 77-member House. Four corporators were debarred from casting their votes as their membership is in dispute after their caste certificates were found invalid.
The deputy mayor's post had been lying vacant since the last two-and-half months after Arun Nigavekar resigned from the post for personal reasons.
