Two underground car parking projects in pipeline: Phatak
Mumbai, Jan 11 (UNI) The parking worries of Mumbaikars would soon be over with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertaking two underground car parking projects in South Mumbai.
The car parking projects--one at Shyamaprasad Murkherjee Chowk near Gateway of India and another at Nana Chowk at Tardeo area--are in the pipeline, BMC Commissioner Jairaj Phatak told reporters here today.
Asked whether the civic body was getting ready to cope with the situation arising out of the recent launch of the Rs one lakh car by the Tata's, the Municipal commissioner said ''it is going to take a long time before the car hits the road. Moreover, we will think about how to deal with the situation when it comes on the roads,' he said.
Talking about tree plantation in the city, Mr Phatak said the figure has increased to 12.58 from 8.8 lakh in the previous year.
