Protest against low quality arrack in Pondy

Puducherry, Jan 11 (UNI) Arrack shop owners in Puducherry today staged a demonstration before the Government Distillery at Ariyappalayam near Villianur here to press their demands.

They alleged that they were being supplied with low quality arrack in unhygenic bottles from the Aryappalayam Distillery. People who had consumed the arrack started vomiting, they added.

Later, the Distillery Managing Director Kanagasabai held talks with the agitators and assured them to rectify the problems in a couple of days, following which they called off their agitation.
