Priest pens Thesaurus in Kannada
Bangalore, Jan 11 (UNI) A Jesuit priest has come out with a 800-page Thesaurus in Kannada titled 'Padanidhi'.
Fr Prashant Madtha, the author, told UNI here today that his work covered old, new and modern Kannada.
He said he had used the conceptual method followed by Rogets' Thesaurus in English.
The Thesaurus offered synonyms to over 16,000 words and it would be updated every five years, he added.
He said the words were collected from 70 Kannada dictionaries and over 100 literary works.
It took 10 years of laborious work to come out with this work, the priest said.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Veerappa Moily would officially release the Thesaurus at a function to be held on January 18.
