PMK men held on extortion charges
Ariyalur, Jan 11 (UNI) Police arrested six PMK functionaries for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 5 lakh from a road contractor at Andimadam in the district here today.
Based on a complaint, cases were registered against 31 functionaries, including party district unit secretary Vaithi.
However, Mr Vaithi, apprehending arrest, had obtained an anticipatory bail.
Ramanathan, Dhanaseelan, Sakthivel, Selvakumar, Thankaraj and Thrisangu were remaded to jucicial costody.
Efforts were on to secure 24 others, police added.
