Patel calls for reduction in fuel tax
Mumbai, Jan 11 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel today called for reduction in the aviation fuel tax and said it will ultimately benefit the customers.
''We have various taxes on aviation fuel and this increases the the burden on the airline companies,'' said Mr Patel in an interaction with reporters here.
If some concessions could be given in taxes, it would benefit the customers, he said.
Replying to a query, Mr Patel said some 50 international companies had already been flying to India and so far, only two Indian aviation companies -- Air India and Jet Airways -- were operating in the international spectrum.
If Kingfisher also joined the league of flying abroad, it would be an addition and international flyers would have three companies from India.
