Minister regrets rape and molestation of tourists
Jaipur, Jan 11 (UNI) Rajasthan Tourism Minister Usha Punia today regretted incidents of rape of a British tourist and molestation of a Japanese tourist in Udaipur and Pushkar recently.
Talking to reporters here, she said such incidents not only saddened us but also marred our otherwise rich culture and traditions.
The minister said she did not intend to justify the shameful misdeeds but would like to suggest that foreigners visiting the state or other places should abide by the guidelines and suggestions and respect local customs and culture.
In response to a question, Ms Punia said such incidents were unlikely to have an adverse impact on tourist turnouts.
