Mayawati not discriminated in security : Congress
New delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The Congress Party today denied that Uttar Pradesh Chief MInister Mayawati was discriminated against in the matter of providing Special Protection Group (SPG) cover, and said that such things were governed by law and guidelines.
"She (Ms Mayawati) may have demanded security...It is not my decision, nor of the party," AICC Spokesman Abishek Manu Singhvi said, while reacting to Ms Mayawati's complaint against providing SPG cover to Congress president Sonia Gandhi while not extending the same to her as the Chief Minister.
Dr Singhvi said there was an act of Parliament which clearly laid down rules and guidelines with regard to granting security cover by the SPG.
"Those persons who are given SPG cover are enjoying the same according to law. It is not a charity." UNI SH PK AS1855
