'INS Ghorpad' decommissioned
Visakhapatnam, Jan 11 (UNI) The warship 'INS Ghorpad' was decommissioned at a ceremony here today.
A release from Eastern Naval Command (ENC) said the ship, built in Poland, was commissioned into Indian Navy on December 21, 1974.
The Naval Ensign and the National Flag were lowered from the ship's mast, symbolising the end of her services in the Navy.
ENC Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice-Admiral Raman Prem Suthan presided over the ceremony.
The ship had participated in a number of naval exercises and was extensively used for transporting combat equipment, the release added.
