Goa govt's nod to host 2011 National Games

Panaji, Jan 11 (UNI) Goa Sports Minister Manohar Azgaonkar told the Legislative Assembly today that the government had, in principle, approved the hosting of the 2011 National Games.

Replying to a question of Francis D'Souza (BJP) tabled in the House, the Minister said the government had already submitted its proposal to the Planning Commission for allotment of adequate funds for development of the requisite sports infrastructure.

Efforts are also on for acquiring suitable land for building the main athletic stadiums of international standards, he added.
