Four Army jawans booked for molestation in Rajouri

Jammu, Jan 11: Four Army jawans were today booked for molestation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.

The four jawans of 20 Rashtriya Rifles, while performing duty during an ambush in village Saranoo, some 15 km from Rajouri town, forcibly barged into the house of a civilian in the early hours, official sources told the sources.

'' The jawans misbehaved with the female members and entered into a verbal duel with others,'' sources said, adding that members of the Village Defence Committee (VDC), wrongly taking them for 'militants', opened fire on them.

The jawans escaped from the spot and their identities were yet to be ascertained. A case was registered against them at the Rajouri Police Station, official sources added.

Defence Spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told the sources that a court of enquiry had been ordered against the jawans. '' If found guilty, they will be punished strictly,'' he said.
