Former minister appointed Govt Whip
Puducherry, Jan 11 (UNI) Former Welfare Minister P Angalan has been appointed the Government Whip in Puducherry.
A Government Order in this regard was issued here last night.
He is yet to assume office.
Elected from Thirubhuvanai (SC) constituency, Mr Angalan was the Welfare Minister in the Rangasamy cabinet. However, due to some domestic problems, the AICC asked Mr Angalan to step down and he resigned on November 19, 2006.
Following his resignation, the then Government Whip Kandasamy was appointed the Welfare Minister, who assumed the office on June 17, 2007.
In the meantime, three assembly sessions were convened without the Government Whip.
