Dog Ravi surrenders before Court
Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Jan 11 (UNI) Notorious gangster 'Dog Ravi', against whom a shoot-at-sight order was issued by Tamil Nadu police, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court at Thirumangalam near here today.
Police sources said Dog Ravi was involved in criminal acts of waylaying, murder, money extortion, attempt to murder and was evading police arrest. He was said to have operated 'Kangaroo Courts' (Katta Panchayats) in Southern districts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in Madurai and Chennai.
Police suspected his involvement in brutal murders of former DMK Minister Aladi Aruna and Thiruvarur District DMK Secretary Poondi Kalaiselvan.
Dog Ravi, who was suspected to be hiding in Mumbai after his rival gang attempted to eliminate him, reached Thirumangalam by a bus this noon after travelling all along from Bangalore.
The Judicial Magistrate Jai Singh remanded him to 15 days judicial custody and was later sent to the Madurai Central Prison.
Earlier, the Chennai cops had arrested Madurai-based gangster Azhagar and his associates, who came to the city to eliminate Dog Ravi due to previous enemity. Azhagar's younger brother Elango was murdered by the Dog Ravi gang.
