'Azadi Exp' chugs into TN with heroic memoirs
Madurai, Jan 11 (UNI) 'Azadi Express', the mobile train exhibition with the memoirs of the nation from 1857 to the present, arrived here on a two-day visit today.
The train, which showcases the 'heroic moments' of the freedom struggle through tableaux, pictures, exhibits and portraits, is the brainchild of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to mark the 150th anniversary of the 'First War of Independence'.
The train turned out to be a major attraction for school children and the public alike, who gathered in large numbers.
Talking to the media at the Madurai Railway Junction, R Rakesh Singh, Incharge of the Train, said it started from the Safdarjung railway station in New Delhi on September 28 last.
Tamil Nadu is the 12th State to be visited and the train would cover 21 states, before reaching New Delhi on May 11.
It would chug into Rameswaram on January 13 and later to Chennai and Katpadi, before leaving the state.
