Vehicle thieves arrested

Nashik, Jan 10 (UNI) Police have arrested two persons in connection with motorcycle thefts in the city.

Following an increase in vehicle thefts in the city, the police had stepped up vigilance and launched a special operation.

Police yesterday arrested Viky Mahesh Pardeshi (22) and Dinesh Pyarchand Chaudhary (28).

The duo allegedly stole motorcycles using duplicate keys or by breaking the locks. After stealing the vehicles, they would replace the number plates with fake ones, police said. The two would, then, forge registration documents and sell off the vehicles very cheap, police said.

The two have confessed to having stolen around 40 motorcycles, police claimed adding that fourteen vehicles have been recovered.

The police have also seized a computer, a scanner, printer and other equipments which they used to prepare forged documents.
