TN fishermen warned off crossing IMBL
Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 10 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government has warned the fishermen from the state not to cross the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), in view of heavy fighting between LTTE and Sri Lankan forces.
Official sources said State Fisheries Commissioner Shambu Kallolikar had issued a warning that the fishermen, who cross the IMBL, would be dealt severely and their boats seized.
Despite intensive patrolling by the Navy and the Coast Guard (ICG), some fishermen cross the IMBL for a good catch.
Action would be taken against the fishermen, using banned fishing nets like ''Irattai Madippu'', the sources added.
