Three doctors go behind bars under PNDT act
Hisar, Jan 10 (UNI) A local court has awarded jail terms to three doctors, including a woman, under the Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique (PNDT) Act.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Alka Malik has sentenced Dr M P Kamboj and his wife Dr Renu Kamboj to three years in jail and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each on them while another doctor, Rajinder Malik was awarded jail term of two years with a fine of Rs 5,000.
Civil Surgeon Dr S K Naval had got a case registered against six doctors under PNDT Act on December 21, 2006. Dr Ravikanta, Dr N C Bansal and Pushpa Bansal have been acquitted because charges were not proved against them.
The convicted doctors have been granted bail by the court.
