Rodrigues for early completion of Beant memorial project

Chandigarh, Jan 10 (UNI) The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Gen (Retd) S F Rodrigues today directed the Executing agencies of Beant Singh Memorial and the Chandigarh Centre for the performing and visual arts to Commission the Center within six months.

While presiding over the meeting of the Governing Body of the Memorial, Gen Rodrigues also asked them to complete the other related components of the project, including the park.

The Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal, while participating in the discussions assured that Punjab would honour the commitment of releasing remaing committed amount.

The Beant Singh Memorial Society would also run a Library here in a professinal manner by creating a professional body as required.

The Governor also asked to set up a core group of officers of Punjab and UT comprising Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab, Adviser, UT, and senior officers of Engineering and Archtiecture Departments to periodically monitor the progress of the work and ensure its completion in time.
