HC orders completion of Ajit Sarkar murder case trial by Jan 31
Patna, Jan 10 (UNI) The Patna High Court today directed the designated CBI court to complete the trial of former CPI(M) MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case by this month-end.
While hearing the habeas corpus petition of a relative of Anil Yadav, an accused in the case, a division bench comprising Chief Justices Rajesh Balia and Chandramauli Kumar Prasad issued the directive to lower court to complete the trial in the case by the end of this month.
The counsel of the petitioner submitted before the court that a cross examination of all witnesses in the case had already been completed by June 7 and was pending at the argument stage in the trial court since then.
RJD MP Pappu Yadav and former MLA Rajan Tiwari were among the other accused in the case. Mr Sarkar was shot dead in Purnea on June 14, 1998.
