FM meets financial advisers to get Budget inputs

New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) Ahead of the Budget, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today had a meeting with financial advisers of various ministeries and indicated to them how expenditures have to be effected in the remaining part of the year.

The theme of the meeting was to take a broad overview of expenditure trends till November 2007.

A review was made of the position of unspent balances.

Mr Chidambaram also made an assessement of the balances lying with various organisations.

The Finance Minister said Ministries that have spent under Planned and Unplanned heads less than 60 per cent of the allocations have been asked to expedite expenditures.

Where there have been restrictions on expenditure, not more than 33 per cent can be spent in the last quarter and not more than 15 per cent can be spent in March 2008.

The Minister took stock of the position of liquidty certificate.

The Minister also inquired about realisation of non-tax revenues, liquidition of arrears and reviewed the position of payment of dividends by profit making Public Sector Banks.

Mr Chidambaram instructed that interest and loan payment of non- sick Undertakings should be adjusted.
