CII NE summit from tomorrow

Guwahati, Jan 10 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and DoNER ministry alongwith the North East India Industry Ministers Forum and Assam government will organise a North East India Investment Summit here from tomorrow.

Addressing a press conference here today, the CII (North East Chapter) chairman Abhijeet Barooah said 60 investors from the country and overseas, North East NRIs, industrialists from the region besides academicians, government officials and financial institutions would participate in the summit.

He also informed that the summit would thrust mainly on sectors like construction, real estate, energy, health and tourism.

''There are some concrete proposals, in the final stages of mplementation in these sectors,''he added.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh would grace the summit.

Mr Barooah said delegates from the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, UAE, Austria, Canada, Thailand Switzerland, Germany, France would attend the summit, which is a sequel to the Incredible India @ 60 organized by CII and India in New York in September last.

Besides attracting foreign investment, sectors like education and health would also get prominence in the summit followed by low cost housing, education and skill development areas.

The delegates would interact with concerned ministers and officials to understand the policies, business environment and modalities on public private partnerships and JVs with private sectors.

This is for the first time an attempt has also been made to build unique networking partnership between NRIs, government and the industry to help establish linkages and contracts for facilitating investment and technology transfer.
