BMC undertakes demolition of illegal structure

Mumbai, Jan 10 (UNI) An illegal three storeyed structure, in the Khar Danda area of the western suburbs was demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation authorities today, for illegally hacking more than 100 mangroves, encroaching on the collector's land and violating coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) regulations.

The three storeyed commercial building was developed and constructed by one Datta Dhone.

The Deputy Municipal Commissioner (spl) of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Milind Sambarkar who undertook the demolition said, ''The whole building had been constructed illegally by the developer who had overlooked many notices sent by the suburban collector.'' Sambarkar added, ''The building does not have any access and the demolition staff had to take a very long route to reach the building.'' The locals had protested against the demolition and even blocked the nearby roads.

''The demolition will continue and the whole structure will be brought down soon,'' Sambarkar said.
