Azad Express provides visual treat on independence struggle
Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, Jan 10 (UNI) Azad Express, exhibiting classic photographs commemorating 150 years of the first war of Indian independence, today chugged into Tamil Nadu through this southernmost district today.
The express, conceived by the Union Information and Broadcasting and Culture Ministries, halted at several states after being flagged off in Delhi on September 28 last.
The express with 11 coaches exhibited photographs on the East India Company's dominance, colonisation by the Britishers, national awakening, Mahatma Gandhi's leadership for the freedom struggle, Quit India Movement, Indian Independence, India on developmental path and impact of democracy on independent India.
It was a visual treat for school and college students, tourists and the general public.
The train would proceed to Madurai on January 11-12, Rameswaram January 13-16, Chennai January 17-20 and Vellore January 21-22.
