Two soldiers buried under snow avalanche in north Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 9 (UNI) Two soldiers were killed when a huge snow avalanche hit their post near the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector, a defence ministry spokesman has said.
He said eight soldiers, guarding the border on LoC in Machil sector, were buried alive when a huge snow avalanche fell on their post.
Six soldiers were rescued immediately while two died, he said adding that the entire area experienced heavy snowfall during the past four days.
The deceased soldiers were identified as LN Vasko Jacob and gunner Subiss M from Kerala.
More than two dozen security force personnel were killed and scores injured in similar incidents during the past three years in north Kupwara and Baramulla districts.
