TN Govt to build Rs 100 cr library
Chennai, Jan 9 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government will build a world class library involving an investment of Rs 100 crore.
The library would come up at the Anna University Campus, where the previous Jayalalithaa Regime had tried in vain to build a new Secretariat Complex.
Announcing this, while giving cash awards to writers at the Book Exhibition here last evening, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said eight acre of land at Kotturpuram (in the campus) had been transferred to the School Education Department for constructing the library.
The Chief Minister said the architectural design of the library would be finalised in a month. Twenty-three firms had expressed interest in the project of which nine had been short-listed and asked to submit the models.
Work will begin soon after finalisation of the model.On setting up a permanent book exhibition venue of international standards, Mr Karunanidhi said the land for the purpose would be finalised soon.
