SWR postpones PET until further orders
Hubli,Jan 9 (UNI) Following the agitation against the recruitment to Group 'D' posts, the South Western Railway (SWR) today decided to postpone the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) until further orders.
SWR General Manager Pravin Kumar, in an official release, said ''it has become necessary to postpone the tests for maintaining peace, prevent untoward incidents and agitations in the state. The decision was taken as per the advise of Karnataka Home Department.'' The PET test was on from January 3 simultaneously at Hubli, Bangalore and Mysore.
Candidates, who had received call letters to report tomorrow and afterwards, were adviced not to report until further orders, the release added.
Various pro-Kannada organisations agitated against the recruitment drive alleging that candidates from Karnataka were ignored and people from Bihar were favoured.
Meanwhile, major political parties also supported the stir.
