Special Court convicts 3 for setting up illegal phone exchange
Hyderabad, Jan 9 (UNI) The Special Court for CBI cases today convicted three people in a case related to setting up an illegal telephone exchange for unauthorised routing international calls from other countries to India.
According to a press release here, the Judge sentenced the accused to five years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on Radha Krishna Murthy, P Damodar Tilak and Sharat Jain.
According to the prosecution, they had conspired with each other and set up the illegal telephone exchange by-passing the legal telephone networks, thereby causing a loss of Rs 1.65 crore to the Centre.
