'Second SRC should not delay granting statehood to Telangana': BJP
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) Taking note of the speculation of the Government for setting up of Second States' Reorganisation Commission, the BJP today said it should not delay the granting of statehood to Telangana, carving it out of Andhra Pradesh.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the Congress had promised the people of the State to grant statehood to Telangana in the last Lok Sabha elections and it should fulfil the promise as the first Commission had already recommended separate statehood for Telangana.
He said the BJP supported statehood for Telangana and it had fulfilled the promises of granting statehood to Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand after the respective State Assemblies allowed it, he said.
