New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) The mortal remains of the two security personnel who were killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan on January three, were brought back to India today by a special aircraft from Zabol in Iran.

Two security personnel, Manoj Kumar Singh and Desha Singh, were killed and five others injured in a terrorist attack on their convoy on the Zaranj-Deleram highway in Southwestern Afghanistan.

While Manoj Kumar Singh was killed in the attack, Desha Singh, who was seriously injured, succumbed to injuries on January five.

The five injured security personnel have also been brought back for further medical treatment, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said here.

The injured were admitted to a hospital in Zabol from Zaranj earlier this week.

One injured Afghan national, who was part of the project security team, accompanied by his brother, has also come to India by the same flight for medical treatment.

The spokesman, while deeply appreciating the cooperation by Iranian authorities, said ''the prompt assistance of the Iranian Government in facilitating the treatment and evacuation of the Indian and Afghan personnel is deeply appreciated by the Government of India.'' External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has written to his Iranian counterpart conveying his personal thanks.
