Paddy production increases in Nepal
Kathmandu, Jan 9 (UNI) paddy production has increased by 16.8 per cent in comparison with the previous year, according to Nepal Agricultural Research Council.
The trend had been decreasing in last three years, it added.
The crop was cultivated in 1.5 million hectares of land and the yield was around 4.3 million metric tons, head of Publication and Documentation Department of NARC and Chief Scientist, Bholaman Singh Basnet said.
Mr Basnet added the productivity per hectare has reached to 2775 kgms and the area of land for paddy cultivation has expanded by 7.66 per cent.
The paddy productivity per hectare has increased by 8.53 per cent, he said.
