India happy over Malaysia denial on labour ban
New Delhi, Jan 9 (UNI) India today said it accepted the denial by the Malaysian government that there was no move to ban Indian workers there.
"I was also worried when the reports about the ban came yesterday.
The Malaysian Home Ministry today denied emphatically the reports in Kuala Lumpur. We will accept their version," Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi told mediapersons here.
He said a labour pact between India and Malaysia had been initiated and debated by both sides.
"We will soon sign the Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysia." Pointing out that there were 150,000 Indian workers in Malaysia, Mr Ravi said the Indian government wanted to protect them.
