G S Sidhu takes charge of Central Jail

Jalandhar, Jan 9 (UNI) Mr G S Sidhu today took over the charge of the Central Jail here as Jail Superintendent.

Mr Sidhu, who was ealier posted as Patiala-based Jail Training School principal, took over the charge from Punjab Jails AIG Jagjit Singh, who was holding the temporary charge since Monday.

The prisoners, during a violent protest against the jail authorities on Monday, went beserk and set some parts of the jail on fire. The then Jail Superintendent Satpal Singh was suspended for derelition of duty.
