Fire in NALCO smelter plant

Angul, Jan 9 (UNI) A small fire broke out in Nalco Smelter plant this afternoon causing damage to its dispatch yards and hampering its aluminium production.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but the authorities suspected a short circuit might have caused the mishap.

The fire first burnt huge tall grass in the area and later spread to the plant.

Fire tenders rushed from CISF units in the plant and extinguish the fire. The plant production had been affected for some hours after the power supply to the plant was cut-off due to the mishap, source said.
