BSP leader's father murdered

Lakhimpur Kheri, Jan 9 (UNI) Ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) former district unit president Uma Shankar's father was murdered by unidentified masked men here this morning.

Chote Lal Gautam, father of the BSP leader and native of village Barihadeh in Fardhan area, was first brutally thrashed by the assailants, police said.

Later, the accused slit open his throat with a sharp weapon.

The reason behind the crime was yet to be ascertained.

Investigations were underway.
