Agri Assn plea on damages
Puducherry,Jan 9(UNI) The Puducherry Agriculturists Association, affiliated to the CPI, today urged the administration to provide an intrim relief of Rs 10,000 per acre of crop lost in the recent rainfall.
In a statement here today, Association General Secretary T Geethanathan recalled he had urged the Agriculture Minister to provide a relief of Rs 40,000 per hectare of paddy lost when he announced a relief of Rs 1000 to be given before Pongal and the balance after the survey on damages.
However, now the government was taking steps to provide Rs 400 per acre which was an insult to the agriculturists, he said claimed.
