Trade unions urge Admn to remove MD

Puducherry, Jan 8 (UNI) All trade unions in the Union Territory today urged the Administration to immediately remove Anglo-French Textile Mills Managing Director (MD) B R Babu from the company.

Talking to newspersons here, President of the Trade Union Forum V S Abishegam alleged that ever since Mr Babu took over as the MD of the government owned mill, production and sales were declining.

For the last three months, the mill was in a crisis due to financial crunch, he added.

The forum also urged the Administration to appoint a textile technology expert to the post of MD. Experienced officials should be appointed as the GM, Sales Manager and Vigilence Officer to make it as a viable textile unit, the forum said.

Mr Abishegam also demanded the Administration to form a tripartiate committee comprising reprsentatives from the government, management and workers to monitor modernization of the mill.

He also urged the Centre to allot Rs 300 crore for modernisation of the mill.
