Scotland Yard team meets Musharraf

Islamabad, Jan 8: The Scotland Yard team, which is on a mission here to probe the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto, has called on President Pervez Musharraf.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Robert Brinklay, accompanied the Scotland Yard team and introduced them to Musharraf. Sources told that the probe relating to the deadly attack on Benazir and its various aspects came under discussion in the meeting, The News reported. Musharraf assured full support to the British probe team in their process of investigations, they added. Meanwhile, a foreign news agency quoted a senior government official as saying that the detective who solved the 2002 murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl has joined the probe into the killing of Benazir.

Zubair Mahmood will work with a team of British detectives investigating the assassination. "He has joined the investigation and will coordinate with the Scotland Yard team," the official said.
