Murder case accused killed in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 8: An unidentified person has shot dead the accused in Munna Singh murder case here.

Deceased Virendra Kumar alias Manju Madhu Yadav (36) was held guilty by Uttar Pradesh trial court in this case of 1999 at Jounpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.

Later, he was released on bail by Allahabad High Court. He came here and stayed with his sister, police said.

At about 1945 hrs last evening, he was at his residence in Malad when an unidentified person entered the house and fired at him injuring his head and chest. He died on the way to Bhagwati Hospital.

Yadav was also accused in Dr Jaikar murder case of 2001 at Khar here. However, he was acquitted by the trial court on December 18, from murder charges following lack of evidence.
