Light showers lash Jalandhar; mercury dips
Jalandhar, Jan 8 (UNI) The day temperature further dropped in the region due to rains today forcing a majority of people to remain indoors.
However, the minimum temperature considerably increased in the region whereas the maximum slightly dipped, according to the Met office.
Till this afternoon, the rainfall recorded in the district was 1.2 mm. While the minimum temperature at Adampur airbase near here was recorded at 7.8 degrees, the minimum at Halwara airbase near Ludhiana rose to 11.8 degrees.
Amritsar was cold at 6.8 degrees Celsius. In the border town of Pathankot, the minimum temperature further increased to 13.4 degrees, while in Bathinda it went up to 14 degrees.
In the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the minimum temperature increased to 13 degrees while in adjoining Haryana, the temperature recorded at Ambala was 10 degrees.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar was at 0.6 degrees while in Avantipura it was 0.4 degree. The minimum recorded at Jammu and Udhampur was 13.8 and 9 degrees respectively.
The weather office has predicted mainly an overcast sky with mild to moderate rains at isolated places in Punjab in the next 24 hours.
