Jawans protected nation with excellent service: Sharma

Rajkot, Jan 8 (UNI) Recalling the war fought by the nation against neighbouring countries, Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma said that jawans have rendered excellent services to protect the country against aggressive nations.

He made the observation while inaugurating the three-day ''Know Your Army'' display-cum-exhibition at Race Course Ground here today.

Lauding the services of the three wings of Army, Navy and Air Force, He said that Indian jawans had bravely fought the wars against Pakistan and China.

Earlier, Golden Katar Division General Officer Commanding P G Kamath said that the main aim behind organising this event is to attract the young generation and help them learn about the Indian Army.

The youths should show a keen interest in the Army and know our weapons and equipments, he said.

A vast range of sophisticated weapons and equipments such as tanks, infantry combat vehicles, artillery guns, telecommunication equipment, sophisticated radars and infantry weapons were displayed at the exhibition. A display of artillery guns and working models of ships and aeroplanes was put up by NCC Cadets.

The display of martial arts, 'Malkhamb' by Veer Marathas and the 'Shwet Ashw' by the motorcycle team from Corps of Signals, kept the audience interested during the show.

The enchanting pipe band and brass band of the Golden Katar Division also performed at the exhibition.
