Indian army ready for any challenge: Lt Gen Pawar

Nashik, Jan 8 (UNI) Lt Gen B S Pawar on the occasion of ''exercise Topchi'' organised by the ''visiting officers'' at Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at Deolali, said in a message to common people that the Indian Army is ready to face any situation or challenge.

Lt Gen Pawar also spoke about other issues such as aim of exercise, modernisation of artillery, etc. Lt Gen said, ''We want to show our future commandant officers the capability of artillery so that they can be confident of it. We also want to show it to civilians and children.'' About the modernisation, he informed that new guns with range upto 50 km will be introduced which will have an advantage over the present ''Soltam'' which has a range of 39 kms.

He also said that the ''transfer technology'' of these new arms will also be inducted so that it can be manufactured in India.

Lt Gen Pawar also informed about the ''bimodular chargers'' and the computerised ''automation technology'' to be introduced soon. He also spoke about the ''Unmanned Aerial Vehicle'' (UAV) which played an important role during the ''Operation Pokhran''.
