Chhattisgarh winds up cyber police station
Raipur, Jan 8 (UNI) Chhattisgarh's lone cyber police station has been wound up for want of trained staff and adequate infrastructure.
After winding up the cyber police station set up three years ago, its resposibilities have been entrusted to the Crime Investigation Department (CID), police sources said.
This police station remained active only for about six months and the only job it carried out was analysis of lakhs of telephone and mobile phone calls to assist tracking down of accused in a bank dacoity case.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar said a proposal to re-start the cyber police station was under consideration in view of increasing cyber crimes. ''We are making efforts to mobilise trained staff and facilities'', he added.
Established in 2004, state's first cyber police station came up in Durg district where 29 complaints were received. But the investigations could not make any major headway in the absence of trained staff. Later, it stopped functioning.
